The Trailmaster Ranger Bareback Pad is made with 3/8" wool blend felt for the base and is built with an inner support layer and an additional 1/2" closed cell squishy foam padding in the seat which is contoured for your thighs to be as close to your horse as possible. This creates a more narrow twist (this refers to the width that your thighs have to spread) than any other bareback pad on the market that I know of. We have been using this foam for almost 10 years. We've tried a few different options, but have always gone back to this foam.
We offer Low, Medium, High/Extra High wither relief. Low is for an animal with almost zero spine/wither contour. Visit our Wither Example page.
The drop length of all of our bareback pads is 17". We no longer offer customizations for this.
You may request a stirrup package with the Ranger Bareback Pad. It is a $99 upgrade.
If you are using stirrups, if you put more pressure in one stirrup over the other, it can and may make the pad roll. There are a lot of different factors that affect this. Please read about my thoughts on this in our blog. The stirrup package includes stirrup straps, 12" strap guards and hardware. We do not offer stirrups. Watch the video regarding installation of the straps on the soft saddle product page. If you want the skirt (little flap that covers the top of your stirrup strap) a different color leather, please advise me of your skirt color choice or it will be the same color as your seat. Also, if you want a certain material/leather for the stirrup strap guard please note that as well or it will be my choice.
LEATHER COLORS:
You will see either #1-4 color panel locations, #1-2 color panel. These are illustrated in the images above as well as on the leather colors page here- "Leather Colors" If you want a grippy seat please select a suede leather for the seat.
Please note your color selections for the 2 or 4 color panel style using the number per location as is shown on the color location illustration. Use the name of the colors exactly as written on the leather colors page. Tell me this information in the "Note" option just before checking out.
Rigging:
- -English rigging- We use 1 inch extra thick biothane with a mat finish for our billets. They are sewn into the pad using a reinforced wide girth support system.
- -Western rigging consist of a D ring to add your own latigo straps to. Use a synthetic latigo strap so it does not create bulk under your leg.
- TCS No Rigging- This option is for those who use a Total Contact Saddle
***Be aware that this bareback pad is flexible and does not have a rigid "seat platform" like a saddle so it will feel different on different shaped horses and it will also feel different with different density/thick saddle pads.
